As AFC Boston Lightning Soccer ends its 7th year of existence
a new era is about to kickoff. Lightning is now the largest premier
soccer club in the state of Massachusetts. Established originally
by Ralph Ferrigno of Tufts University, one of New England's top University
coaches, along with Andy Nelson, most recently of Stanford University,
Lightning has traditionally boasted a strong staff. Please note that
in June 2003 AFC Boston Lightning will now be know as Boston Blast
FC. Please checkout www.BostonBlast.org for information,
tryouts etc.on this exciting new organisation.
In the 2002 season Lightning had one team in a State Cup final &
one team in their age group final four. Additionally, 2 teams claimed
MAPLE championships. The year before, three teams made the State Cup
Final in their age brackets & a fourth made their final four!
At present the club is undergoing a major rebuilding initiative as
Mike Haynes (Beaver Country Day) & George Saropoulos (Austin Prep)
direct the Boy's and Girls programs respectively. Ryan DeJoy (Landmark)
directs the new u10-u12 Boston Lightning Academy program incorporating
the u10 SChool of Excellence. There is also a program for open-age
Senior teams within our club system.
